When in Milan, you absolutely MUST do Duomo!
This was one of my FAV churches to visit in Italy! If you don't know, this cathedral is one of the largest in the world and took nearly six centuries to complete.
Although there was not much to do in Milan, I could have honestly spent the whole day in Duomo admiring its beauty and taking in all the views from the top!
How to visit the Duomo?
Well, as you may know, you want to take a sexy Instagram photo in front of all the pigeons. There are people in the front of the church with popcorn and encourage you to put some in your hand to feed the pigeons. I was not having it, as I honestly think pigeons are very dirty. It wasn't my thing--so I kept it moving when it came to that. However, to get in, you need to have tickets. If you want to avoid the lines you should buy tickets online in advance. We didn't; so, we went to the admission office and bought tickets on the kiosk. Simple and easy.
What tickets to purchase?
Well, we wanted to do it for the 'Gram and didn't want to get tired walking up all those damn stairs to have to do it. So, we opted to take the elevator and had to purchase a different ticket to take the Lift. Also, you must pay to get inside and that was (€14). Just don't make the same mistake we did and take the stairs back down. If you pay for the lift you are welcome to take the lift up and back down to exit.
The views once you get inside of the church is just gorgeous! Plan to spend at least an hour to truly take in all its beauty. Take your time and explore; once you get inside of the church, make sure you go up the stairs and go all the way to the rooftop; admire the views and you will not regret it!
Some key things to keep in mind when you're in the church:
+Wear appropriate clothing
+Wear comfortable shoes
+Bring a good camera
+Take your time taking in all the beauty
+If you want a beautiful view, go during the sunset
+No running...Walk, please!
Tip: You get an amazing view over the roofs of Milan, and the details of the architecture on the roof is also incredible (visit at sunset for the best pink and pastel colors, both spires and the sky).
This was truly a highlight of my trip! -

Too many panhandlers. They want to give you popcorn to feed the pigeons. I almost had a mild heart attack because of all the pigeons who attacked me. I screamed so loud that everyone stared and felt sorry for me.
Beautiful structure. -

We had an amazing time visiting the Duomo. We went around 9:30am on a Sunday. It wasn't crowded at all. We bought tickets online that included the Duomo, archeological area, the crypt, lift ride to the roof top, and to the duomo museum (17€ per person, discounts for kids). The lift to the roof top was worth it. The views were amazing. We had to come back around 12noon to do the lift because the roof was closed for morning frost (January 2020). Once we came back, there was a small line. We only waiting like 20 mins.

OHHHH MYYYY GOODDDDD!!!! Check this place out - DO NOT CHEAP OUT ON THE ROOFTOP. It is so freaking beautiful and amazing - literally the definition of breathtaking. Easily the highlight of my trip - was such an amazing experience. I wish I had more time in Italy to do a proper tour to understand the historical significance behind everything. Loved it and will highly recommend it to everyone!

This is most beautiful gothic church in Italy. Very similar to the Cologne Cathedral. I the item item gothic. The best way to visit is to but the fast track ticket. The regular ticket to enter the cathedral is about 3 Euro. The fast track is 25 Euro. It is worth the money. The ticket includes elevator to roof top, inside cathedral and unground church below cathedral. The ticket also includes Duomo Museum next door. Most tour group don't do roof top because of liability. So do it your own. Don't do it on the rainy day. Because you are step on the marble roof tile.
The cathedral certainly the best to visit if you come to Milan. It was great to take the picture outside. It is more fun to the roof top. The view from top and close to the gothic roof is amazing. Many has took their profile picture here. The close up to the gothic decoration is wonderful. We circulated the roof once them walk down to the man in sanctuary.
The worship sanctuary is beautiful. It not as decorative as the St. Mark Basilica in Venice. But the back window behind the altar is marvelous. Each glass show the story of Jesus. I can stand there forever to view every single piece.
Fast track ticket allow us to view the underground church below the Basilica. You will discover the ruin of the church below.
